H5 bird flu detected in Booderee National Park

H5 bird flu has been detected in a greater crested tern found in Booderee National Park.

While this is sobering news, the park remains open and visitors can continue to enjoy Booderee while following some precautions around wildlife.

A reminder that if you see sick or dead birds or other animals, do not touch them.

• AVOID contact and keep your distance
• RECORD the date, time and location, and take photos if it is safe to do so.
• REPORT multiple sick or dead birds or other animals to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.

Parks Australia and Booderee National Park have been proactively preparing for the arrival of H5 bird flu and has response arrangements in place. We are working with partner agencies to monitor the situation and will keep park users updated.
