Booderee Botanic Gardens rainforest boardwalk and pathway upgrades
Visitors to Booderee National Park will soon enjoy safer, more accessible rainforest walks, with key boardwalk upgrades in the Botanic Gardens underway from April to August 2026.
Importantly, the Booderee Botanic Gardens will remain open throughout the works, so visitors can continue to experience one of the park’s most popular attractions.
Parks Australia will deliver targeted repairs and upgrades to the existing boardwalk network, improving safety, accessibility and the overall visitor experience while protecting the surrounding environment.
The project includes:
- construction of new boardwalk sections and walkways
- a dedicated section designed to meet Australian disability access standards, improving wheelchair and mobility access
- new viewing areas with seating and upgraded decking
- replacement of handrails and balustrades
- rust treatment and painting of steel structural elements
- upgrades to nearby gravel and bitumen pathways.
These improvements will extend the life of the infrastructure and reduce ongoing maintenance needs, while ensuring minimal environmental impact.
All works will be delivered in accordance with environmental impact assessments, arborist advice and Cultural Heritage permit requirements, with completion expected in August 2026.
