Heath banksia
This is one of the original banksias collected by botanist Sir Joseph Banks when he travelled to Australia with Captain James Cook in 1770.
Its distinctive orange and red flowers contrast with its green, heath-like leaves.
This plant attracts lots of birds, and grows quickly. It flowers between autumn and winter, and can be found all the way from Booderee at Jervis Bay, to the very top of the coast of New South Wales. This is a very common plant in Booderee and can be commonly seen on your way to any of our bay side beaches such as Hole the Wall.
